Denatured Alcohol
Denatured alcohol is ethanol that contains additives that are poisonous, bad-tasting, or foul-smelling in order to deter consumption of the product. These blended alcohols also require less regulations and taxes when used according to the TTB standards. Denatured alcohol blends are separated into two groups – Specially Denatured Alcohol (SDA) and Completely Denatured Alcohol (CDA). MRE currently offers several types of these TTB approved formula blends:
SDA 40B, SDA 3C:
These Specially Denatured blends are used in a wide variety of applications, including cleaning and further manufacturing purposes.
CDA 12A:
This formula is most often used for extraction purposes. MRE manufacturers this blend using USP grade 200 proof ethanol along with the highest purity n-heptane, to comply with TTB regulations.
